The A7670E is SIMCom's mainstream LTE Cat-1 module, positioned as the modern replacement for 2G-only parts like the SIM800L in regions migrating to 4G. It delivers up to 10 Mbps downlink and 5 Mbps uplink on LTE-FDD bands B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20, with 2G GSM/GPRS/EDGE fallback on 900/1800 MHz so deployments keep working while carriers thin out their GSM layers. VoLTE voice calling is supported, and the module carries the same AT-command heritage as the wider SIMCom family — firmware teams moving from SIM800 or SIM7000 reuse most of their command-handling code.
Host connectivity is generous for a Cat-1 part: USB 2.0 (which can also expose the module as a network interface for tethering-style data), main and debug UARTs, I2C, SPI, GPIO, ADC, PCM digital audio, and a GNSS option on sibling variants. The physical form is a 24.0 × 24.0 × 2.3 mm LGA module fed from 3.4 V to 4.2 V, with multi-ampere peak current during transmit bursts — the same discipline as the SIM800L applies: bulk capacitance at VBAT, short wide power planes, and a supply rated for at least 2 A. Operating range is -40 to +85 °C, with an extended-temperature variant available for outdoor cabinets.
Sourcing perspective: the A7670 family (A7670E, A7670SA, A7670G with GNSS) shares the footprint and AT core, so a single PCB can support regional band variants — valuable for products shipping to both European (B20-heavy) and Asian (B1/B3/B5/B8) networks. Counterfeit risk on modules manifests mostly as wrong-band firmware or remarking of the cheaper A7670SA as the E variant; verify with AT+CGDCONT/AT+CMBAND queries and IMEI registration against SIMCom's database. Shenzhen stock is deep, MOQ from single pieces to reels.
Lock the exact A7670 variant (E vs SA vs GNSS option) and firmware baseline in your PO to avoid band-mismatch surprises at certification, and buy evaluation boards first — SIMCom EVBs de-risk the RF layout before you commit to module reels.
A7670E is LTE Cat-1 (10/5 Mbps, 2G fallback) optimized for cost and low-power telemetry; SIM7600G-H is LTE Cat-4 (150/50 Mbps, global bands, 3G fallback, integrated GNSS) for bandwidth-heavy applications like video and routers. If 10 Mbps covers your data profile, the A7670E saves significant BOM cost and power.
The base A7670E does not. The A7670 series offers GNSS-equipped variants within the same footprint; if tracking is core to the product, specify the GNSS-capable A7670 option or pair with an external GNSS receiver over the module UART.
VBAT accepts 3.4-4.2 V with peak current demands around 2 A during LTE transmit. Use a buck converter (not an LDO from 5 V) for efficiency, place 100 µF low-ESR bulk plus ceramic decoupling directly at the VBAT pads, and keep return paths short. A single Li-ion cell works directly.
Yes. The USB 2.0 port enumerates as a composite device exposing AT ports and a network interface; Linux kernels include the option/qmi drivers, and SIMCom publishes Windows drivers. This makes the module usable for tethering-style connectivity without writing UART code.
Largely yes for AT command structure — both use the SIMCom AT set, and SIM800-series commands are supported for compatibility on the A7670 platform. Expect differences in PDP context handling for LTE (APN/attach), band selection commands, and no CSD support; budget a few days for AT-layer regression testing.
Query AT+CGMM, AT+CMBAND and firmware version, and cross-check the IMEI against SIMCom's verification channel. A remarked A7670SA or GNSS-less variant will report mismatched model strings or missing GNSS responses. Inspect the shield-can laser marking and lot date-code consistency.
MOQ 1 pc for evaluation, 100-500 pcs trays for pilot runs, full reels for production. Shenzhen stock ships in 1-3 business days; SIMCom factory allocation is typically 6-10 weeks for large orders.
