Is XLSEMI a legitimate manufacturer?
Yes — Shenzhen XINLIAN Electronics (XLSEMI) is a domestic Chinese analog IC design house founded in 2008, with its own product line of DC-DC converters, LED drivers and power switches distributed across Asia and increasingly exported worldwide. XLSEMI designs are its own silicon, not clones of TI/National parts, though many are pinout- or function-compatible with classic LM25xx designs by intent. We buy through XLSEMI's authorized channel and provide lot traceability on every shipment.
Are XL6009 and XL4015 chips counterfeited?
The chip remarking risk is real, and the module market is worse: countless cheap "XL6009 modules" use relabeled lower-current dies that voltage-sag or overheat at rated load. For bare chips we verify switching frequency, current-limit behavior under load, and marking consistency across a reel. For modules, we load-test samples to the rated output current and check thermal rise. We only sell XLSEMI authorized-channel stock and disclose the source on every quote.
XL6009 vs XL4015 — which do I need?
Opposite jobs: XL6009 is a boost converter (step-up) — 3-32 V input, 4 A switch current, for raising e.g. 12 V to 15-35 V rails or driving series LED strings. XL4015 is a buck converter (step-down) — wide input, 5 A continuous output, for turning 12-32 V into 5 V/9 V/adjustable rails at high current. Both appear in adjustable modules with the same blue PCB style. Rule of thumb: output higher than input → XL6009; output lower than input → XL4015.
