Nanjing TopPower ASIC Corp is a Chinese power management IC designer founded in 2004 and headquartered in Nanjing, specializing in battery charging, LED driver and DC-DC solutions for consumer and portable electronics. TopPower's TP4056 is a global phenomenon in its category: a complete single-cell lithium-ion linear charger in SOP-8 (also DFN), integrating the full CC/CV charge cycle, programmable 1 A charge current via a single resistor, on-chip MOSFET (no external sense diode or resistor needed), charge-status open-drain outputs, thermal regulation, and battery-temperature monitoring support. It is the charger of choice for Arduino-based battery projects, solar chargers, DIY power tools and IoT nodes, and appears on the ubiquitous red TP4056 USB charger boards — the two-pad protection variants pair it with DW01A/FS8205 battery protection for complete safety. Our Shenzhen warehouse stocks TP4056 chips and modules from TopPower authorized distribution, with charge-termination and current verification on every lot to reject the clone dies that dominate the open market.
Heavily — few power ICs are cloned as aggressively. Fake TP4056 dies use undersized pass elements that overheat above ~500 mA, terminate charging prematurely (undercharging cells), lack proper thermal foldback, or omit the safety timer. We verify lots by running full charge cycles on samples: confirm the PROG-pin sets exactly 1 A with a 1.2 kΩ resistor, check CV termination at 4.2 V ±1%, verify charge-status pin transitions, and thermally image the die at full load. All stock ships from TopPower authorized distribution with lot codes.
The module mounts a TP4056 (SOP-8) plus supporting parts on a small PCB: USB-C or micro-USB input, a 1.2 kΩ PROG resistor (1 A default), charge-status LEDs, and — on the protected version — a DW01A + FS8205 battery protection circuit (overcharge, over-discharge, short-circuit). The bare chip needs your own PCB design. For production we supply both; for prototyping, the protected module is the safer and faster choice.
No — the TP4056 is a single-cell Li-ion/Li-poly charger with 4.2 V CV regulation. LiFePO4 needs 3.6 V CV; multi-cell packs (2S+) need a different topology entirely (see TP-series multi-cell chargers or buck-boost charging ICs). Also note it is a linear charger: at 5 V input charging at 1 A, the die dissipates up to ~0.8-1 W, so keep the SOP-8 thermal pad well soldered to copper. For higher currents or efficiency, a switching charger is the right tool.
Yes — Nanjing TopPower ASIC Corp has designed power management ICs since 2004, and the TP4056 is an original TopPower design that became the de facto industry standard for single-cell linear charging. Authorized domestic distribution delivers in 1-2 weeks; our Shenzhen warehouse holds TP4056 chips and modules for 1-3 day shipment, with the authorized-channel C-of-C available on request.
