Alpha & Omega Semiconductor (AOS) is a NASDAQ-listed (AOSL) power semiconductor company founded in 2000 and headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, combining US design with high-volume wafer fabrication and packaging in Asia. AOS is one of the world's largest suppliers of power MOSFETs — its trench-process devices span small-signal SOT-23 parts through ultra-low-Rds(on) server and battery-switch FETs — along with power ICs and modules. The AO3400 is its most famous small-signal part: a 30 V N-channel MOSFET in SOT-23 delivering 5.7 A continuous current and Rds(on) in the low tens of milliohms at logic-level gate drive, making it the default choice for load switching, LED dimming, level shifting and battery-path control in compact designs. The AO3400/AO3401 N/P pair covers most 3.3 V and 5 V MCU-adjacent switching needs. Our Shenzhen warehouse stocks AO3400 from AOS authorized distribution, with curve-trace verification of threshold, breakdown and Rds(on) on every lot to reject the remarked SOT-23 stock that floods the broker market.
Yes — SOT-23 MOSFETs are trivial to remark, and AO3400 counterfeits typically hide lower-current dies (AO3400-class parts rated 2-3 A relabeled as 5.7 A) or higher-Rds(on) stock. Fakes pass continuity tests but voltage-sag and overheat at real load. We curve-trace samples from every lot: BVdss ≥ 30 V, Vgs(th) in the 0.65-1.45 V window, and Rds(on) consistent with genuine AO3400 at both Vgs = 4.5 V and 10 V. All stock comes from AOS authorized distribution with lot codes and C-of-C available.
Yes — the AO3400 is specified at Vgs = 4.5 V and 2.5 V, and its typical threshold is around 1 V, so 3.3 V GPIO drive fully enhances it for loads up to a few amps. At Vgs = 3.3 V expect Rds(on) modestly above the 4.5 V datasheet figure, so derate high-current designs accordingly or add a gate driver. For 5 V logic, gate-drive clamping is unnecessary — AO3400 handles ±8 V on the gate. Use the AO3401 (P-channel complement) for high-side switching at these voltages.
Close equivalents include Vishay SI2302 (30 V, similar current class, low-Rds trench), onsemi NTJS3157 and Nexperia PMV/NTR-family 30 V logic-level parts; the older 2N7002 (60 V, ~300 mA) is pin-compatible in SOT-23 but not current-compatible. AO3400A is AOS's own improved variant with tighter Rds(on). All are SOT-23-3 N-channel logic-level devices; we can quote AOS genuine plus vetted second sources on the same RFQ so you can compare landed cost and availability.
Alpha & Omega Semiconductor is a NASDAQ-listed company (ticker AOSL) founded in 2000, headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, with fabs and assembly/test capacity in Asia and shipments in the billions of devices per year. It is a top-ten global power MOSFET supplier. AOS authorized channel quotes 8-16 weeks; our Shenzhen warehouse holds AO3400 stock for 1-2 day shipment on quantities under 30,000 pcs, in original AOS tape-and-reel packaging.
